Reports Suggest Apple is Enhancing Siri with AI for Advanced Voice Commands

Apple Inc., known for its innovative technology, is once again stepping up its game with plans to revolutionize Siri, its virtual assistant. By integrating advanced artificial intelligence (AI), specifically large language models (LLMs), Siri will gain enhanced capabilities, transforming how users interact with their devices.
Apple is working on an advanced AI-powered version of Siri, capable of executing specific app functions via voice commands. Initially, this feature will support hundreds of commands, such as opening documents, sending emails, and managing app features within Apple’s own ecosystem. While it won't be part of the iOS 18 launch, an update early next year is expected. Eventually, Siri will handle multiple tasks in a single request, such as summarizing a meeting and texting the summary to a colleague. Apple might use OpenAI’s ChatGPT or Google’s Gemini AI for this enhancement, handling simpler requests on-device and more complex ones via the cloud. This major AI push is expected to be a highlight at Apple’s WWDC 2024 conference in June.
